There are 7 states of perception as perceived by pramAtrin (Perceivers)
Jiva has 2 states of perception
1.Sakala
Perception in objective world -
State of prameyea (object of perception)
3 malas are present - Anava, mAyIya & kArma
2.pralayAkala
state of negation-
State of unawareness (mUrcchA)
2 malas are present- Anava & mAyIya. kArma mala is gone
Further path is of yogi.
3.vijnAnAkala
Yogi experiences awareness but not active awareness (either full of action without awareness or full of awareness without action).
Only 1 mala is present- Anava. mAyIya & kArma are gone.
4.suddhavidyA
Awareness with action.
All malas are gone.
He experiences only his own real nature (Full consciousness, Bliss, Knowledge & Action- Real state of Shiva).
Mantra is aham aham, idam idam (I am real & universe is false)
This is unstable/ fleeting state. Comes & goes.
This is Mantra state- manana (complete awareness/ knowledge) & trAna (protected from all 4 sides of ignorance)
Next is Mantresvara state
One who has sovereignty on mantra (aham- I). This is state of unification of jiva with Shiva.
5.Isvara
More stable state of full consciousness, knowledge, bliss, will, action.
Mantra is idam aham (universe is within me & is not false)
Next is Mantra Maheshwara
Who is ONE with Universal Transcendental Being.
6.SadAshiva
Firmly established in state of 1 universal being.
Mantra is aham idam (I am whole universe)
Finally
7.Shiva
State of perception & observer merge in ONE as Shiva.
Mantra is aham (universal I- “I”ness only, "This"ness is gone)
There are corresponding 7 state of Shakti making him capable of residing in respective states-
1.Sakala shakti
allows jiva to reside in objectivity
2.pralayAkala shakti
allows jiva to reside in void (sUnya)
3.vijnAnAkala shakti
allows Yogi to remain only in anava mala
4.mantra shakti
allows him to reside in his real nature
5.mantreshwara shakti
carries individual to state of Ishvara
6.mantra maheshvara shakti
allows perception of his universal “I”ness
7.Siva-shakti
allows firm seating in original state of Shiva
7 states & 7 shaktis are to be experienced through rising & then descending again.
Shiva is who can rise & descend & after descending can rise again.
Jiva is state where Shiva descends from state of Shiva to the state of jiva but cannot rise again.
This is only difference.
