People keep asking..."How to control this mind?" "How to do meditation when the mind cannot concentrate for a single moment."
But Meditation can't truly be done!
We can only do practice of dhAranA.
dhAranA is "act" of undoing, unwinding.
dhyAn is culmination of that practice.
When unwinding is complete then there's no doing.
To stay in state of non-doing & simply BE, is dhyAn.
To stay in state of BEing, irrespective of all daily activities of mind & body, is dhyAn.
When in continuity, then dhyAn transforms into samAdhI.
That is true nature of I-Consciousness.
So we can only do small act of undoing by practice of dhAranA.
Rest is consequential.
How intently one practices dhAranA, depends upon how motivated one is.
How ready one is.
When anything else is more important then practice of dhAranA won't be perfected.
If one is still seeking joy, bliss, perfection, peace, divine, knowledge, then his mind is still fallible.
One is only ready, when he's ready to wind his circus up & go home.
When one is honest enough to know that whatever he is seeking in this world is without essence.
When one can feel the emptiness in pleasures of life.
When one is not after this blind chase anymore.
When this quitting is irrespective of winning or losing...
There are books after books telling how to do dhAranA.
But theme remains the same.
Be in present moment.
Don’t drift to past memories, not revise/recite what has already happened.
Don’t imagine things.
Don’t be calculative/analytical.
Just be present with a relaxed mind, open to every new moment that comes to you.
Whatever work you need to do physically, do it with mindful awareness.
Keep your focus on the work, watch how your mind, body are doing it step by step, moment after moment.
Don’t do anything automatically, reflexively, subconsciously.
You will need to slow down initially to catch hold of the moment & momentarily body activities.
When you forget your watchfulness & slip into memories/dream of any thoughts which do not belong to activity in hand, then calmly bring your focus back to the present moment & present activity.
This is the way of living mindfully.
You can also practice wall gazing, trAtak to practice concentration.
When you are sitting, standing, walking & not particularly doing anything then keep your focus on breath.
Inbreath, gap, outbreath, gap.
Keep watching it.
When you forget & slip into any thought/ memory then calmly bring your focus & awareness back to breath.
In few days you will be like a walking girl with pitcher on head.
You can keep doing your worldly activities and still remain focused on pitcher.
More central focus on pitcher & small subconscious remaining focus on mundane activites.
When you perfect your practice then you will attain dhyAn.
Then whatever happens, happens!
